Greetings fellow sojourners of Unseen Fiction. This is a short update to tell you that Volume 2 is still in the works, it’s being planned for, the course is being plotted, and the foundations are being laid.
In other words, it is still brewing (we have no metaphors left to mix, so this email is just to touch base).
While this is still in the works, we are looking at doing new things this time. For example… image prompts to get the mind going.
We have been playing with obsessing over Midjourney for the past few weeks, and it is as the kids say… lit. An AI… thing that converts text into an imaginative interpretation of whatever you had asked of it. Here’s an oil painting of an office worker centaur
…ornate Mughal boxes filled with Sufi magic…
…or the death of a star imagined as a Madhubani style painting.
… cute kitten in a sari (obligatory)
It is giving us a sense of wonder that we felt lost - this is the closest to magic that we have seen in a very long time.
And so, when a prompt for the futuristic city of Kolkata bore this fruit, we just had to include a story about it in the first issue of Volume 2. The 0th issue to be exact - as this has a contribution from one of our editors, Kaz.
We plan to bring you six episodes, each with 2 flash stories. We’re actively seeking story submissions and will be paying a flat 500 Rupees for each story that we publish.
800 words is the hard upper limit, and 300 words is the sweet spot for story length.
Stories can be submitted here: https://forms.gle/qragGGGqMGJMhtY89

See you at episode 0!
